GOT AN EGG !!!

Everyone always asks me about my chickens too because I brag about them almost as much as my girls. I have a gentleman rooster - I feed my animals bread and when I feed the chickens my rooster calls all his "girls" to eat first and when they have all had couple chunks he will eat. We have named him Gentleman" of course :aww

I have been known to shout "I'm RICH!!!" upon finding an egg.

Oh, getting that first egg is so fun!!!! I remember when we got our first one - my daughter found it and came running to the house shouting. We all gathered 'round and oohed and awed, then we cracked it into a skillet, scrambled it, and shared it (all four of us!!!)

It's kinda funny, but after a year-and-a-half, we still love gathering eggs - it's like getting a very personal gift every day!!

my boyfriend and i just got our first egg on wednesday.
i let my chickens free range almost all day, and i feed them only the best of food (of course) so the egg was surprising gorgeous. beautiful color and strong shell.
still a little small, but what can you expect? haha

havent had another egg yet. i guess i just have an early bloomer.

We just started getting eggs from one of our girls. I love finding them right there in the nest box. The proud hen always seems to be standing there watching me gather it up, as if waiting for her 'thank you'- which she always gets!

My Shiner gave us her first egg on Monday. We've gotten four from her so far. Two in the nest box and two in the greenhouse/shed. The shed door is closed now. It's so exciting. Each egg has been a slightly different color and one was alot larger than the others. We're all trying to decide how to honor the first eggs...I'm leaning towards cheesecake. It's got to be something special!

I always consider eggs a "gift" from my girls and I thank them each day when I gather eggs. It is exciting still even thought I have had them for several years.

Me, DH, and DD waited for an eternity for our first egg so the day it came, DD (9yrs old) was at school and we were so excited that we put it back in the nest and pretended to not see it so she could find it first
