That is a good way to make a man fighter even meaner!
I have seen some mean chickens and a few were man fighter and the last thing you want to be doing is going out there trying prove yourself to him and playing the I'll show you who's boss game.
If anything you go out and pull him away from his hens and put him either on a tie cord or in his own pen away from the hen where you can work with him and he can gain trust in you.

Poppy wash if you ask me, many of these problems not all mind you but many, Started with exccesive handling and coddling, something a rooster takes advantage of. FACT !!!!

Nah...worked on every roo I've ever owned. One doesn't just walk around jabbing at him and taunting him out of sheer meanness. It is an experiment in intimidation and it really has worked 100% of the time with every roo I've ever owned. Only one of them have ever shown aggression and that was one not raised by me...but he only tried it on one time. He, too, responded to the training.

If you just start your roos out so they know the big, two legged creature keeps looming over me and expecting me to move away....and I move away and it stops him from looming over me, it is merely a good training technique. You let up if they give the desired response~just like with dogs, horses, etc. You later reinforce that response whenever you think about it, just to see if he is still responding to training.

I had more than one American Game try to prove him point when in the breeding pen and trying to play a how's boss game don't work. 9 time out of 10 all you have to do is pull him from the hens and he will calm down then you can work with him.

Well...you could be right. I've never really tried to raise HALF a roo before...could be that would make them a mite testy!

Why anyone even fools with those small breed chickens is beyond me....won't make a mouthful and their eggs are tiny.

Horse feathers, all this chicken butt lickin makes me tired, I don't have any trouble with my roosters and don't seperate them from the hens and do a bunch of fancy twaddle. They know I am boss and if they forget it a boot in the a*& gets them right with god.
