I belong on a safety committee and I voiced my concerns about why I never got the shot or mist. We offer them free to our employees. I didn't want the shot for fear it would make my arm really sore as I do ALOT of heavy lifting pushing and pulling all day... After being completely torn down at the meeting and lead to believe I would not get sick nd that I was rediculous......BAM I get sick. I felt it this morning when I woke up--a bit groggy and tired but I chalked it off to not enough sleep. Made plans for dinner..as the day went on so did 100 sneezes! thick head and bleah tummy all day...then it dawned on me..ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? it was the mist...I know it...thank goodness tomorrow is Friday with a long weekend...

sonew - hope you feel better. The mist is a weakened live version of influenza. The shot contains dead virus.

So you could get a mild case of it since you received the mist.

Some people do come down with a fever after receiving the shot, but that is just a reaction to getting a shot (you could react that way to any shot). They are not coming down with influenza.

glad I could be of some help for you guys!!!

never again

I'd go for the shot next time -- if you ever did decide to try it again. Your arm may be slightly sore, but I don't think it's the type of shot where it aches for days. The DTap shot (Diptheria, Tetanus, Pertussis aka Whooping Cough),on the other hand, is a different story -- ache lasts for awhile!

I don't take the shot, nor the mist. There are sooo many strains of the flu, and the shot only covers a percentage of them, that it's not worth it. If I get really sick from the flu this year, I will try it next year. The shot, that is.
