Got illegal chickens?

that's so great!!! and funny too! last time i went on a walk i tried to see who else may have chickens in the neighborhood...more people had privacy fences than what i thought....and you never know what they may have behind it!! but i DO know that whenever i go out in the morning (usually at daybreak or even while it's still dark) to do "chicken chores"...i hear a rooster crow in the distance...so somebody ELSE has chickens too!! lol! i always smile and say "you hear that girls? that's the boyfriend you'll never have"...lol!

I have two Buff Rocks and Two Barred Rocks, out of the four I only have one that is noisy when her BF goes to lay. I am trying to "train" her by "pecking" her with a finger (as another chicken would do when she does something objectionable) when she gets too loud - hopefully it will work.

A cow in the garage??? That is nuts!! I love it.
If anyone ever complains about my chickens, I will say "at least I don't have a COW in the garage"

I'm gonna still try to change the CC&Rs, and give it about a year. If I still haven't heard from them by then, I probably will go for it. If they deny my request, then DH & I will have a discussion.

Now that it's spring, I've been outside more and I've distinctly heard a rooster crow (or maybe an egg song) twice! So maybe I'll have a chicken buddy. Then a friend of mine who lives in a different subdivision, but a couple miles from ours, said chickens are allowed over there. She may be wrong about that, but she said the neighbor who has them doesn't even try to conceal them.

mkeawsh - while your intent may be to bring understanding and comfort to SuburbanMomof4 with your previous post, I find that it smacks of unfounded stereotyping. Your experiences with your daughter who lives by herself, who notices and is concerned about things in her neighborhood "are sometimes ridiculous," are not necessarily typical of people who live alone. I have been living alone for several years, and can assure you that I am no busy body. Yes, I do notice what goes on in my neighborhood, but I don't make it my business to interfere with anyone else's business. Several of my neighbors and friends also live alone, and to my knowledge, none of them do either. It is offensive to me that anyone would make such a claim about those of us who live alone, whether by choice or circumstance. It sounds to me like SuburbanMomof4 just happens to have a cranky neighbor who chooses, for whatever reason, to be a difficult person, and probably has nothing at all to do with whether or not she lives alone.

I asked my neighbors permission first. I'm in a simple town, with our backyards touching, and a chain link fence. Nobody seems to mind. It's awesome. Go for it.
