Got my bator, some questions.

OKAY
I have found a sponge
like this.

I have it wiht the blue part down and the yellow part wet, laying flat on the blue part in the top corner of the bator, would this be alright?

btw - the dish under the fan in this pic is not filled with water, it is just there to lift the fan higher cause I had a chick try to climb on top of it a couple hatches ago - he almost stuck his foot down into the fan blades

after doing all of this changing, with the sponge in there, and leaving the top off ,etc.
the temprature is 97.0 degrees
and the humidity is 64

Yep, that should work fine - as long as the sponge is just sponge with no cleanser built into it or anything - that looks like it is just sponge with a scrubber or something on it - that would be fine.

What I would do now is to leave it in there overnight and see what the temp and humidity says in the morning, then put the eggs into the bator.

Or, if you just can't stand it any longer

put the eggs in, and make sure in the morning it is reading right. The first day or two won't harm the eggs too much if the temp is low or the humidity is high - just so long as the temp isn't too high (like over 102 for too long).

I would want my humidity around 40% (give or take 5 %) and the temp around 101 (99 or 100 is still acceptable, but 101 is best in a still air. better lower than higher.)

Nope, set the temp and leave the knob alone - the temp will go down slightly when you open it up to turn eggs, but it'll come back up within a half hour or an hour. Once you get your temp set it ought to be fine to stay there - unless your house or the room it's in has wild temp swings - outside room temp will affect the inside bator temp.

the temp seems alright;
but im having problems with the humidity.
i guess it will jsut take some tweaking
but im assuming 67 is too high?
