Got My FIRST eggs today!!

Congratulations on your 1st eggs! I have two RIR's and they each lay a different color...one lighter and the other more of a dark tan.........and the darker one is always larger than the light one!
Mine started laying in mid-August and it's still exciting to collect the eggs each day!

I have production Reds and Barred rocks...my barred rocks lay the lighter colored eggs and the PRs lay the dark brown eggs...but that is my flock, they all might be different.

Congrats on your first egg, it is SO exciting...you will have many more 1sts, biggest, smallest, strangest, etc etc. Many more joyous moments to come!!!

Mine are the same way.. My Barred Rocks lay the light tan eggs and the RIRs lay the brown ones.....

Congratulations!! I know the feeling-just got my first "little" egg from one of my girls, this week, too. The eggs are so cute! I have 3 young Barred Rocks and am pretty sure I know who laid it. I think another of them is about ready to lay her first one soon. Maybe tomorrow...

I'll never get eggs. Every time I call my parents they ask me if I got eggs. And I say NO!
But I'm happy for everyone who does have eggs!

Congratulations! May I ask how old the girls who started laying are? I'm in my 16th week with my small flock. No big signs yet,, but combs and waddles starting to grow a bit and get a bit redder. I still have the nest boxes closed off,,

Did you see any signs, squatting, egg song, etc?

Oh fun! Gotta love the first egg!! I have some barred rocks and Australourps.. They were hatched June 9th. How old are your girls? I'm waiting for these girls to get on board with some egg laying as well.
