Got my first pip today doing dry hatch. Method

View attachment 1165366 I went ahead and moved the three to the outside brooder. They are happily under the electric hen. I showed them the water and food and closed them up to enjoy their new space.

The humidity only went down from 62 to 60% and the temps have stayed the same. I left the shells inside and only quickly snatched up the babies.
They are very cute!
I hope you get more to hatch

they are so cute! Congrats on new babies. I have eggs on day 20! I also do the dry hatch process and seems to work the best!

Thank you. I'm glad I got these three. I couldn't see much of anything through the blue/green shells. Now if they will just turn out to all be pullets I'd be even more happy.

Sadly I don't think I'll get any more chicks out of the remaining eight eggs. But I will leave them in the bator until Sunday which will be day 23. Then will be the part I like least about hatching chicks - eggtopsy.

Anything more than one chick to hatch is good! Three is a nice number. Hoping that you get pullets!

Thank you.

My daughter informed me that this little girl hatched around 4am today. At least that's what time she heard it chirping loudly. She's dried out and joined her siblings in the outdoor brooder.

It is nice to have more hatch when it seemed like the hatch was over!

Yes, it's like a bonus present. Lol.

Right now my older girls are hardly laying because they are really old and some are molting. My juveniles are too young to lay and won't be close for another two months at least.

The only one who seems to be productive is my Partridge Silkie and she's probably just trying to make herself a clutch to hatch. Lol.

So these new babies will be my future layers... and that will be next spring I guess.
