My dh is getting ready to set up the water nipple system but he's wondering if it's okay to use just any bucket (like the orange ones from Home Depot) or should we get a food grade bucket?

We used a kitty litter bucket...it is square so can hang against a wall. It is working great. Has enough room that I can add 4 juice bottles that have been frozen to chill down the water in the waterer. In Texas we must do everything we can to keep the hens cool.

I agree with the square bucket idea. Mine was made from a Home Depot round bucket and it has become deformed against the wall.

Any bucket will work of course. I did find the same with a round bucket, when I hung it against a wall it deformed. I used a square one and it seemed to hold its shape much better.
