Went into work later this morning then usual. While I was letting the dog out before I left, I heard one of the 19 week old girls raising a ruckus in the hen house.
I saw her come out, so I walked down to the run to check on her. I looked through the fencing and she seemed fine. I got to work, and a coworker that we gave 6 of our chicks to, came bursting into my office asking if we had gotten any eggs yet. He had gotten two eggs the day before. When I got home tonight I checked and lo and behold we had a brown egg on the ground in the run, and a green egg fron an EE inside the henhouse. The nesting boxes now have golf balls in them to give the girls the idea of were to lay at. My dad in Michigan ask's every time I talk to him if we have egg's yet, so I had to call him and let him know tonight about them.
It may be my imagination, but the girls sure seem proud tonight.

Yay! I can't wait. My two oldest will be 21 weeks on Sunday. They are EE. One looks ready, the other doesn't. They wander around our yard all day and I'm worried, I won't even know when Penny starts laying.

Congrats x2!

Now you'll be waiting for the eggs to get BIGGER!

...always waiting for something with chickens.

Well it's day three and we have gotten 5 egg's. 3 of them are brown, and we figured out which EE was laying the blueish green one's 2 total so far.
Zilla is our EE that is laying. She was the biggest chick from the begining so we named her chickzilla.

Her second egg is a tad bigger then the first. Guess I'll be collecting the eggs, as my wife did it today and she say's that she feels guilty taking the eggs from the girls.

Oh good for you guys, sounds like they all started at once.

Have fun. Enjoy your breakfast...
