Hattie (7 weeks old Barred Rock), Sophie (7 weeks old Rhode Island Red), Henny, Clarice (both 7 weeks old Easter Eggers), Abigail and Scarlett (both newborn Barred Rocks hatched last Monday) from a snowy high desert say good morning, world! We all stayed cozy last night under our 250w heat lamps. The big girls stayed in the coop and the tiny's stayed indoors.

Yep, got snow, but only around 10". Welcome to BYC.

10 inches! WOW. We only got a dusting and it's melting fast. Expecting a high of 50F today. Do your chickens walk around in the snow or do you keep them cooped up?

Once they become acclimated to snow, most will walk around in just a dusting, but the deep snow sends them into their coops. With only 10" we dodged a bullet. Areas North and East of here got up to 3' of snow. The news was just showing firemen freeing people from stuck cars on the LI Expressway. Many had been trapped there for over 12 hours.

Hello and welcome to BYC

We only had a little snow. Enough to sent the chickens running straight back to the safety of the coop though. Poor things didn't know what to think of their white, cold run!
