I love how chickens garner such respectful old dignified names. It seems like everyone names them things like
Rosemary
Frances
Betty
Martha
Hazel
Wilma
Agnes
etc.
rarely do you find a Brooke, Kayla, Mackenzie, Kaitlyn, Jenna

Chickens always remind me of old time ladies with all their skirts and petticoats.

My pheasant ladies are very dignified too. The jury is still out on the guineas though.

Our seven year old named our chickens....

Doughnut (the alpha gal)

Cookie (the one that let DD hold her first)

Angel (the scared cat brat chicken)

and then there are our twin chickens (2 Jap. Bantams)

Kim and Karen

DD named the twins after her identical twin teachers (1st and 2nd grade teachers)

Sometimes, I like to name the chickens according to their breed's country of origin. Like French names for the Faverolles or English names for the Dorkings. I named my Dorkings Jane and Emily.

I want to name chickens after my grandmothers and my favorite great-grandmother next time. Thelma, Dorothy and Emma!

My frizzles (except the roo) are named after flowers-Peony, Tulip, Rose, Pansy, Petunia and iris. My roo is named Dewey, or Doo, or Doodle, or Roo Man-what ever I feel like saying at the time.
