gotta love the chicken names

My best named chicken is my black sex link Roo, he's solid black with a bleach blond head - I named him after Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Otherwise my girls are, Godiva, Glitter, Caramel, Shiera, Peanut and Lucky Lucy (who just recently received her name after surviving a dog attack.) I have 2 other Roo's, Sal & Mr. Bo Jangles, but not for long...

I have/had:

- Spanky (our current roo, he use to get in a heck of a lot of trouble when he was a chick...hence "spank").
- Ginger (the roo we gave away, we thought for the longest time he was a she until he crowed... "ginger" because he was red...after we figured out he was a male, we set on calling him "Gin")
- Lucy (she was my little clubbed-footed cochin who was sadly taken by a hawk...at first we weren't sure of her gender so since she was black "Lucifur" if a roo, "Lucy" if a pullet)
- Bo-Peep (I named her after "Little Bo-Peep" being a fluffy white pullet; kind of reminded me of the nursery-book character for some odd reason)

Well my parents banned me from naming chickens since my names were "too odd and ridiculous" so when we got our 2 new girls, they named them:
- Penny ("Penelope" because she's 'copper-colored' --- very original mom...)
- Henrietta (my dad figured he was super witty because of HENrietta, yeah..so creative, LOL)

I have three polish. Jay-Z, Shenuqua, and Shenaynay. (son named them...he's 15 and now back in Wyoming so we're left with these crazy chickens and their crazy names)

ETA I did, however, name my Black JG snowflake lol

Wel my kids and DH helped name mine.

My sons is very original its Chicken.
My daughter: Tippsy (who is a roo and is going back to his breeder this sunday) and Piggy because shes a little pig.
My DH: Cleo (Cleopatra because she's the head honcho)
and My two: Honey because shes honey colored and Butterfly who is now Butters because she is a he.

I rescued a chicken that a coyote attacked and wanted to name her Mayleen, but my husband's cousin Mayleen was coming up to visit for the first time ever and I thought she might be insulted, so we named her Chicken instead (original, I know). then once she'd healed, we grabbed another chicken from the neighbour's coop so Chicken would have company. That one is Punkin. When Mayleen arrived from California, she laughed when I mentioned using her name and said I was welcome if we got more chickens. And when we talk to her on the phone she always wants to know how the girls are!

How 'bout my daughter's name for the chick she picked out.... Tyson.

The others are Big Momma, Lulu, Lacey (she's a Gold Laced Wyand) and Lil Bit, the tiny runt girl.

My five black stars are Pam Grier she's almost entirely black, Aretha she has a little gold on her head, Tina Turner she is the lightest of the five, and Venus and Serena Williams they have golden heads, but look almost identical......
My BO is Mrs. Orpington, but she has no mister, so it's kinda wierd.
My BR is Stella Stripes, and my RIR roo is Fred.....
My EE's are Elvira she has a black head, Ever is gray with a golden/orange head, and Electra she's white with red accents. My baby EE's are being named. but one is Ember she's black with orange feathers mixed in--reminds me of a fire's dying embers.

Our orginal 5 RIR hens that were given to us and started me on this chicken adventure or should I say addiction???

Only one of the hens had a name. Her name was Henrietta. She was the only nice one except for the roo. We named him and boy did his name fit him ... Mr Doodle. He was a runt of a rooster and not too manly either but he was nice and the kids liked him.

Unfortunately, the nice sized coop that we had thought we had fortified was not a challenge to a hungry wild animal. We went almost a year without chickens before the "bug" got me to get some more.

We built the new coop closer to the house and built a very fortified coop to keep them safe at night, the only time we have any problems. We finished the coop Feb 27, '08 and the same day bought 12 pullets (two of which turned out to be roo's) and 1 rooster.

We've named our Easter Eggers since we can tell them apart. They're all named after Harry Potter characters.
Lupin, Godric, Cedric, Bellatrix, Crookshanks, Luna, Minerva and Buckbeak.
We've got 17 Buff Orp pullets that all look the same to me. I just call them 'the ladies'. Our BO roos have names. After Halo, the xbox game. Master Chief (Chief) and Captain Oyster (Cap).
