Gotta vent/share...

I understand what you meant. And I even agree with you. But, as one who lost a baby ( at 22) that would have been really really tough to hear. Now with 40 years wisdom behind me, it was God's way of saying " hey think about this man." I didn't. I was too busy grieving and wanting to fill my arms with a baby.
I wonder what I would have done had someone said to me at the time: He really didn't respond well to the situation. Perhaps he really isn't the right one for you.

I did get 5 wonderful awesome kids out of the deal but really... too soon old and too late smart!

And I want to add... the man who has my chickens is wonderful, generous, and NOT the father of my children! And they ARE his chickens!

I think a lot of it is indicative of American culture. When I was in South America I saw many 16 year old girls with babies. The babies were well treated and the mothers were very attentive to their needs. It is obviously a different culture there but the families were extremely tight knit and new lives were welcomed into the families. The kids there, although dirt poor, were all very responsible and hard working.

I guess my take is that we all make mistakes and life is such a precious commodity that any new family members should be welcomed.

Darn it... Now I'm missing Ecuador again.
