Gourd for hen nest

I grew some large martin gourds last year and I am planning to try using some of them for hen nest. Has anyone ever tried this? Any feedback on results?

I would think it would be too small. Hen nest 12x12x12.

Even most bantam chickens are way bigger than Martins.

I put 3 gourds out, 2 were not used but one was used by 2 hens.
