Anything that keeps a farmer in buisness and gives us a choice to purchase fresh products is always a good thing. with the finding of this information if enough people get together there can be no way that they can shut down the farmers as is being proposed.
remember not all gov grants have strings attached.

Major corporations have been the main benefactors of farming subsidies for years,

Please post your link for this. MOST of the money in AG FUNDING goes to schools/welfare (70+%). What is left goes to family farms that may be incorporated for tax reasons but still a family farm. The only reason ANY money is given to the farmer so that he can make his bank payments since the government does not allow the farmer access to the free enterprise system.

you know what, I dont know whats going on, but I came home the other day and found an state EPA worker parked outside my house looking at my garden plot, and my neighbors taking notes on one of those handheld things.

he drove off before I could talk to him, but drove looking at back yards real slow.

Its only slightly related to the governement giving grants for farmers markets... but it sure is strange isnt it?

has anyone else noticed such things?

Sounds like the gov is doing something good. Obama said he would be doing this in his stimulus plan. I know it's hard for some of you to do, you would probably rather eat a bullet, but admit it's a good thing. In my opinion it pretty much negates all this stuff about how the fed is trying to shut down farmers markets.

The floor is now open for all the criticism of why it's a master plan to control us.

Next time you should ask. It may be an appraiser taking notes on comparable properties for a refinance, Property appraisers do that. Property appraisers are under a lot tighter restrictions than they used to be. No more pulling figures out of their wazoo.

If you look at the website cited by, I believe, the OP, the 100,000 is the max grant allowed for a STATE to set up a program to help fund cooperatives or markets. And you think this is bad when so many people on this board work their tails off as independent farmers, or would like to?!

It never ceases to amaze me how many of you will cut off your noses to spite your face just to have another stab at the duly elected President -- and the government that paves your roads, subsidizes your emergency rooms, maintains your electricity supply, keeps libraries open, employs your firefighters, distributes social security to your parents, and feeds poor kids a free gol-danged lunch.

I'm having my own darned tea party, where we will DRINK tea and discuss, in an intelligent matter, the fact that nothing is perfect, including this government and THAT's OKAY. It will be a tea party for realistic, optimistic grown ups and there will be real, actual cookies, too.

You are all invited.
