grandson out of icu update 1/30

reflux is not fun. My babies end up spitting up blood from the reflux and they don't get a lot of tummy time until they are older. Prevacid only helps so much. Hope things get better for the little one.

Chixie, PLEASE have them look at him for pyloric stenosis!!!!!

The doctors thought my son had reflux, then realized there was something wrong when he was 2 and a hlaf months old and still weighed the same.

Aiden may not have it, but it does affect first born sons, only. It is often diagnosed as failure to thrive at first. Please, please, please talk to the doctors about this being a possibility. I had never heard of it before my son had it and I have never known anyone else who's child has had it.

Ayden is thriveing. he has almost tripled his weight since birth. doctor say dd is feeding him too much at once...

Looks like Ayden will be having surgery sometime this week. they are going back down his throat with a different camera today. He has narrowing of his airway due to scar tissue from being on the ventilator 3 different times. they may be going in to remove the scar tissue. I should know something later today or in the morning.

We're continuing to pray for Ayden, and your whole family. Hope the doctors can get that little guy sorted out!

My brother had this when he was a baby. He's 43 now. They kept telling my mom she was feeding him wrong and still upset from losing my sister. I had another sister born before my brother.

My mom took him to the hospital and told them they were full of it. She said she had had a baby inbetween and kept that one alive, so if they thought she was doing it wrong, they needed to show her. She left and picked me up from school and went back. They yelled at her that he needed surgery and was very sick. Boy was she mad.

BTW he was the second son.

That poor little boy is going to have a bunch of crazy chicken people worrying about him till he is 18. I hope he is feeling better soon though.

My first had severe reflux. We found out in the ER when he turned blue. Before that the doctor just kept telling us all babies spit up like that. Was not a fun first time parent experience and I am sure your daughter is agreeing on that one. We elevated his crib mattress, that didn't work at all. We ended up letting him sleep in his swing or bouncy seat because they kept him more upright. He got thickened formula. and we had to cut his portions down and increase his number of feedings. Was rough but it did get better.

We will just have to keep praying for that little boy. I look forward to the prayer requests for patience when he is all healthy and into everything.

UPDATE: GS will have another procedure on tue or wed. they are putting different camera down his throat(not sure of the name of the procedure.) they have to put him under to do it. DD had to go to the ER for an anxiety attack . they told her about what could go wrong and if something horrible goes wrong they will have to do a trach. so she freaked out. I will be going up there to stay with her. I am leaving as soon as I get my stuff packed and get dressed. I will try to post updates from the hospital...

Thank you for all of the prayers

Poor wee man, hope everything gets sorted out soon and big hugs for your daughter, she is obviously very worried, as you would, there is nothing worse than having one of your babies in hospital.
