I am sure there is plenty of info here but I just don't have time right now to read through everything.
I bought the granite chick grit when I first got my 6 girls and realized the pieces were way to big for them.

They have play sand at all times and I can't believe how much of it they eat. They've been getting treats for 2 weeks and will be moved to
their new big coop in a few days.
They are 5 weeks now and thriving, no problems so far.
At what age can they handle the real chicken grit?
Thanks!

Mine start to eat the "Starter" granite grit about 6 weeks even though it is available as soon as they start to receive food other than crumbles. Before that, they bypass it and eat the small parakeet type grit/sand.

There is an "Adult" granite grit size that mine won't even see until they are about 12-14 weeks.

I have no trouble with CHICK grit. It is by Manna Pro, come in a small bag and it is red colored. It is very tiny and even the week old bantams can handle it. Maybe you need a different brand, but I think the sand will do for a while. As long as they look thrifty, I wouldn't worry about it.
