His birds are nice, but if he calls something a project, he's not kidding.
Quote: Just chopped all the veggies for the dressing and hung out a load of laundry. Came here to rest and stretch until the until the tightness relaxes. Tightness, then burning, then spasms. I try really hard not to get to step 3. I'm not much of a baker, but chocolate chip oatmeal cookies sound really good. with walnuts! Still have plenty of time tonight since we are taking all the food to mil's and I don't have to clean so much!! yayThat big stack of mail isn't really hurting anything sitting over there in the corner.![]()

Project Jubilee Orp is a mess of mottled red and barely resembles an Orp conformation wise. Project Marans is a tiny little thing with a small brown-ish egg. You should not expect a lot from what he calls project. He's keeping the best for his program. I would!
How are the pups today? Have you named them? Mama doing okay?
This is gonna get long lol Sorry, not sorry.
Really debating switching ob-gyns. They finally (after me calling and arguing with them several times AND bringing in an HCG test that shows my numbers are way, way up) believe that I'm not just 2-3 weeks into the pregnancy, but still wanted me to wait until Dec 15th to get my first ultrasound and talk with the doc. My test shows I'm week 7-14 already (HCG level 43,725) when the test was taken a week ago, putting me at week 8-15...appointment is 3 weeks away, putting me at 11-18 weeks for my first ultrasound.
So, doctor herself finally calls last night and basically says, well why the heck did your doc do these tests? I carefully explain that my hormone levels have been wonky since I started getting tests and they were afraid previously that I had PCOS. She sort of scoffs (she's the only doctor that doesn't believe that, because she has done ultrasounds and only found 1 cyst). Either way, my pcp tested and saw my progesterone was low and has given me a prescription supplement, because she is afraid I might miscarriage if my levels are really low and don't rise correctly. Ob says, well we will see if you even need it.
She then proceeds to tell me that hormones vary for everyone and the HCG test dating my pregnancy is completely unreliable and shouldn't be used to even approximate. I'm like well, I know my last period wasn't a normal period (nobody in her office will believe that I know a 1 day period isn't right for me when I normally have very heavy 5 day periods) and she interrupts and says, but you haven't bled since? No, I've been spotting off and on, actually. Not with cramping (not that she asks), but just spotting here and there.
Finally she decides I should keep the Dec 15th appointment, but they will ALLOW an ultrasound before then to date the pregnancy. And she seems to be done with the conversation, ready to go. My response, well I have a bunch of questions, that's why I want to get in to see you asap.
So, she humors me and I explain quickly that I work on a farm with poultry and rabbits and also do things like tan hides in winter. *speechless doctor* Do I need to take extra precautions? She says Well, umm do birds carry diseases? I just let that sit there for a minute, in complete disbelief that she essentially just tried to ask if my birds were diseased. I really wanted to retort, oh yea, I only buy and keep the sickest animals I can find! But, I was like uhh...they can, but mine aren't ill. She asks what kind of birds and do the birds scratch and bite? I was like they scratch, but I obviously try to avoid that. Oh, just wear those really long gloves (welders gloves?) whenever you go out there. And we can talk about how the other stuff could effect you later. I'm loke, but that's why I don't want to wait forever to meet with you. I need to know if I can do this stuff or not.
At this point the conversation is essentially done and she says I will be contacted tomorrow to set up the ultrasound. Still really unsure if I should switch providers. This group actually works directly with the hospital here...which through generous donations has multiple rooms, plazas, outbuildings suites and even the frickin maternity ward named after my in-laws and the family name.
At this point, we are just as close to Spokane, which is rated much higher as a hospital, but may not be In Network and would also mean having to drive through traffic to reach the actual hospital. But, I would have more ob choices and they even have a birthing center.

Sorry about the headache.![]()
They are better than hatchery quality. I've never had a Marans, so nothing to compare, but the cuckoo Orp (not a project) I got from him is really nice, much closer to SOP than regular hatchery birds.
