Granny's gone and done it again

Many may not know this, but ISA Brown is not actually this breed’s name, but more of a brand. ISA stands for ‘Institut de Selection Animale’- the name of the company which developed the hybrid breed in 1978 for optimum egg production. Now days, Biada Poultry have the Australian rights to market the name ‘ISA Browns’.

And i just got back in from giving my chickens their slop. Now i can chime in and make more posts!Hubby said the slop i fed the chickens smelled better than the canned chicken and rice soup i had for lunch.

The ISA Brown is a hybrid type of Sex Link chicken. It is thought to have been the result of a complex series of crosses including but not limited to Rhode Island Redsand Rhode Island Whites, and contains genes from a wide range of breeds, the list of which is a closely guarded secret.
