Have you done the sit down with the local classifieds to look at rental listings, your utility bills to show him what those cost, the cost of transportation (car payment if not owned outright, gas, insurance, maintenance), what it costs a week to feed him, etc -- and then compared that to his current income or even a "best case scenario" income at minimum wage (ie if he is working PT now go ahead and estimate his pay at FT hours)?Oh, that's nice. Chicken people got to stick together.![]()
Well, the thing I was worried would happen when #1 got his job has happened... he wants to quit school and work full time.No concept of how little minimum wage actually is when you are young and living with your parents. We agreed he can cut back on units, has to take 12 minimum to keep the little scholarship he got. That would be 4 classes per semester. The job is too easy for him. No challenge so he likes it. Got to make sure this kid gets a degree so he can make his own way some day. I hope.![]()
I think someone from the farm is coming in today so I get eggs![]()
Happy day indeed! Picked up a couple dozen myself yesterday from a local lady -- went all the way to my mom/sister's place this past weekend and drove off without remembering to grab any eggs. Hoping this lady's flock produces better eggs than the last local lady I had found.
What a lovely bunch of eggs! Those blues are beautiful.
That kind of stuff detracts from the point they are trying to make. But it does get them in the news. Wonder how long they will stay in the snow. Westcoasters might make it a couple of days.
Exactly - but they don't see that.
Had to laugh at the west coasters and weather comment -- the perpetual protest in Portland (I honestly think they just pick a new thing to protest every day, same people, different signs) comes up often in this household when we think about having to go into the city to do anything, we have said more than once that we need to go on rainy days because the protestors won't be out.
I figured they had the same regs as Idaho. We can buy a permit from the forest service for like $5 and cut a tree off of state land.
Yep - individuals and groups alike. So many wonderful memories of days spent hunting for and cutting Christmas trees with the local Lions club when I was a kid (dad was very active with them) to haul into town for the annual Christmas tree sale. Funny, I think the fee was the same even then (some 30 years ago).
She still alive?![]()

LOL - there is a comedienne I love with a bit on that -- "People you thought for sure were dead" - in reference to some of the people currently doing shows in Vegas.
Pam, I'm not gonna nag except for one thing. If you do feel any twinges, please call an ambulance. Don't try to drive yourself to the hospital. And don't tough it out at home. I really want to meet you some day.
Yes, yes, yes! So wish I was still in Indiana right now (and given how much I hated living there, that's saying a lot, lol) so I could help you.
