Granny's gone and done it again

She’ll be three this summer. Haven’t had too many adventures - life has just been crazy. That and she went through a HARD moult. She’d still act all curious but don’t touch her (not that I blame her poor girl) which really sucked when she wanted in the garden bit that I’ve got fenced off and I’ll lift her in there every now and then for pest control...bottom pic was a few weeks ago

Camping, I want to make sure I got my story straight. Yes, still working on it. LOL
Fundraiser now is basically for you to fix things around camp for you and the kids to enjoy then later in the yr you have a big fundraiser for the kids to come to camp right ?

That’s right, for the most part. Here’s the whole story in three parts.

FIRST: the camp lost a big chunk of funding last year, and retreats were down (not as many booked, so not as much income from retreats). We learned about this halfway through 2016; luckily we had enough squirreled away to keep us afloat, but all projects were put on hold. The camp will not survive another low year and does not have money for anything but bills and necessary maintenance.

SECOND: this is a super busy time of year as we clean the grounds and get ready for camp. It’s also an expensive time of year because we need supplies for every project, like lumber, paint, etc. Those are budgeted. If I don’t raise money for the farm, then it just won’t happen. I’m as frugal as possible (seeds instead of plants, free baby chicks even if they’re gimpy) while still having a great program. DH can’t focus on anything but the whole rest of the camp, so I try to handle the farm/garden on my own.

THIRD: we have one big fundraiser a year for camperships, and this year it will be in the fall. We don’t turn kids away for any reason, not even behavioral and especially never financial. We have a zero tolerance fighting policy, but there hasn’t been a fight in years. We also accept private donations all year for campers. The “campership” price for a week of camp is $200. Our list price is $280, so we’re not making bank money through the summer. We try to keep the costs as low as possible.

Clear as mud?
