Granny's gone and done it again

My youngest sil started her first year of college this fall. She just failed a course and is reeling a bit from it. Like free fall I guess.

Anyway, she has been talking to DH about coming to stay with us for a while. Getting a job, taking online courses, and nannying for us in the summer. Of course I'm all for it. She's nannied for us before, and she's great.

Tomorrow I'm going to work on the house. YALL. I've got to make some progress. So, moms of bigs who used to be littles... How do you throw away the precious paintings and handprints and papers they write their names on? I have such a hard time with that.

You might not be ready for that yet...

scrap book them with pictures of the not so important items and only keep the real important stuff.. Ornaments or letters from the teachers.

The biggest no storm ever!!!!!!!! Nothing. Better weather than we usually get on any given October day. Waste of money!!!!!
No Sharknado? I think your giant spider scared the storm into submission.

Here is a video of our cockerel we put in with my old ladies. You will also see my dog, jax.

He looks a little nervous.

Well, some of us still have bags and bags and boxes and piles of the precious stuff.

I do have some advice (from ruthlessly organized people), I just haven't followed it!

Allow yourself one box of keeper stuff per kid. A reasonable size box

Take photos of the things that need to go. A digital memory is almost as good as the real thing, especially if the darling is holding the artwork in the photo.
Like Linda said, frame some things that are favorites of yours. I still have some artwork from the boys' early elementary days taped to my pantry door.
Date the things you choose to keep, and add a note if there is a special memory attached to it.

And finally, remember that if every little thing is considered important and precious, then nothing really is. Grandma's favorite vase is a family heirloom, but a barn full of every single thing grandma and grandpa had in their house is a burden. ( And all the associated guilt trying to get rid of it is a burden too.

) And now you all know more about me than you ever wanted to know.
