Granny's gone and done it again

Well it's to prevent superbugs and bugs getting antibiotic resistant. Too many people medicate without knowing if it is something that can be helped with an antibiotic or not...and too many people improperly use the medication as well. (Not enough, duration, etc)

I can see why it's being done.

Sigh.

Apologies in advance to all who receive their holiday cards (just finished them) for the penmanship -- they were written with a cat on my head

I don't think that is the reason. That would make make too much sense.

Yes you are correct it is to keep the bacteria from becoming resistant, but it's not from small hobbitst use, it is the commercial feed lots.
This is to restrict the commercial practice of keeping animals on them continuously. So this means the small holder would need a prescription as well when antibiotics are needed.

You have been researching ! The thing I see is big company's can afford this vet fee. We for the most part cant. Putting us out of business and them raising prices yet again. As far as becoming resistant I dont buy into that either. Like I said though. I dont know enough to say. OK, I have 5 sick chickens and I treat them . they get better so how are they resistant ? When you have 5 sick chickens (and I am guilty) I treat the whole flock. I dont single them out so healthy chickens are getting antibiotics they dont need . maybe.. It supposedly builds up in their system making future doses ineffective right ? But tell me, What does that have to do with future generations ? How are they antibiotic resistant ?
