haha! the tiny seeds in the figs are crunchy, so any extra insect protein would never BEE noticed. I've been eating figs my whole life... love them! Can't believe it took me this long to get my own tree. Fortunately we have generous neighbors.

My Polish keep their nest box clean, lay and get out. I have one that insists on laying on the ground, inside or out so hers get dirty.

Yes, Trader Joe's had a lot and they were very fresh. Hubs told me to get some. Perk of taking him shopping along with him doing the heavy lifting.
Most everything I grow has to be drought tolerant. Otherwise, one day you don't water and they are dead. I spend a ridiculous amount of time watering a summer garden. We aren't even doing tomatoes this year unless I get some soil for a patio container.

they sell crystals you can add to the dirt that retains water. I think its the same thing that is inside diapers. I bought a pack of cheep diapers once and cut them open for the crystals and added it to the dirt. They did well that year.
I aint never planting or tasting a fig. I dont know what that other thing is either. aguava ?

My Dad grew a nice fig tree in FL and someone( thinking Hubby) cut it down after Dad passed away. He said it was ugly.
