Granny's gone and done it again

Finally caught up . Now i can cry in my beer. I went out to check the sex on one of the bunnies because someone was asking . I was gone ALL day and got home quite late. THE BUNNY WAS DEAD! WTF?!
It had always been the smallest, and rather skinny but i just figured it was a runt. I am so upset. Really nothing i could have done differently unless i brought it inside but really it has not been very cold. Ugh, crappy end to a very long and busy day. :hit

I sure wish you'd TAKE SOME PICTURES pleeease.

One of the hat hens. Crested Cream Legbar. The shells are all faded.

Sorry I keep forgetting to grab my camera and the little "darlings" already know how to use the pet door and sneak in behind me.

so sorry about the bunny there cap. :hugs

the dirt is what I put down in the brooder room for the chicks and then lay about 4 sheets of tissue paper over the top. Then I am good to go until the chicks are big enough to go into gen pop.
its cement floors in the coop and I don't want the little on cold cement so about 1/2 to 1 inch of dirt smoothed over the cement seems to work very well for me.

My kid went for a walk around the neighborhood after work and saw one of these... Hooded Oriole. I will have to keep an eye out for it.

Thanks Twist. They run all around in that big cage i built them and i have not been spending as much time with them as i tend to do my bunny cuddling at night. Since they are not in the barn, its harder to do in the dark.
Tomorrow i am going to check all of them over and brush them some more. Way too hairy for my tastes. Crazy to breed 2 short haired bunnies and get long haired babies!

We had Baltimore Orioles build a beautiful nest in our Elm tree where i grew up in New York. I still feel badly about Dutch Elm disease.

Most of my brooders i make with wire bottoms so less poopy shavings. The storage bin ones they only stay in for a week or so on paper towels.
