We are still feeding the birds. The feeder is suspended on a clothes line, so no way for the bears to get in. And it closes up automatically if a squirrel tries to eat. Had a Blue Jay out there this morning and an Oriole. One bird flew right into our big window today, poor thing.

Mine was suspended on a wire that runs between my back garage & the studio apartment. The wire is about 10 ft off the ground. Mr Bear proceeded to stand on his hind legs & grab the feeders with his front paws. He would yank on them long enough until he broke the feeder. I had a friend visiting from out of town & she was staying in the apartment. She had brought her sheep dog with her & the dog was bothered by some noises outside so she went to the window to check. It was about 3:30 in the morning & sure enough the bear was out their breaking all the feeders down to get to the seeds. He came back the following spring looking for a snack, but we were wiser & had removed all the feeders. He didn't hesitate about leaving us a big ole pile of shat in thanks at the bottom of the steps going down into the back yard

I did find a clear plastic cap to put over the knob, just need to figure out how to hook it on so the cats don't take it.
