Boomer was the only male dog that I groomed. His ears, under his legs (arm pits) and all boy parts would mat.

I’d tug on the mats and use the clippers to cut them out. Scissors are dangerous because you can easily cut the skin.
personally I would try to brush the matt/clump out , I have always heard that cutting a matt out doesn't "fix" the problem and it will grow back in matted. :confused:
Uh it can’t physically grow in matted. But without brushing, it can once again become matted. And it’s usually the same spots on the dog that mat. Mom always swears she was going to brush them regularly but maybe 2x in Lottie’s short life has she. Never did brush boomer.
