Granny's gone and done it again

So that would mean what I saw "sort of sticking out Sheila's backside" this afternoon , it was underwater, BUT if the sack isn't/wasn't broken open the calf should not have drowned right ??

That is when I went and found a yak patty and hit her in/on the backside to get her up and out of the water. OF course when she did that whatever was coming out went back in. :th

All mammal embryos are inside a sac full of liquid. They get their oxygen from the umbilical cord, not their lungs. That's why babies are held head down to help drain out the lungs and why everyone is waiting for that first breath.
So no drowning... some babies are born in birthing pools.

Twist, when I looked up about cow twins, it said one is born head first and one tail first. Don't know if that is for all twins :idunno but Sheila may be struggling with a breech birth. Not sure if cows and yaks are the same. I know more about horses, and breech needs help. Sometimes a vet will push the baby back inside and try to turn it. Other times it is get two feet and tug.

cool I didn't think it would matter BUT wasn't 100% sure !!! ON the other hand a calf being born/hitting the ground in a pool of water would NOT be a good thing. Deep mud there as well.
