that might have been the problem you par-cooked/boiled the skin/feathers only takes a few seconds

and our ducks and geese we never scalded just plucked dry/whole and then gutted the bird

I did it right and I tried it dry too. Neither worked so I tried drowning them again. Cant drown a duck.
