Had 4 chicks. Culled one because it had the whole yolk sac out with some guts and ruptured. Poor thing.

I agree with W4W, looks like sap to me too. That stuff doesn't come off without nasty petroleum solvents.

Some days its hard to get started. I sleep in, and then usually by noon am outside working. Lunch around 2. Supper around 6pm. I work until dark. Then generally around 10 i go out to the work shop and work until 11. But i think tonight i will hit the workshop at 9. Lots to be done, building nest boxes and carrying cages. Lots to take to the swap.

Can’t get my head that close to see. He puts his head down and stomps at me, and I don’t ever turn my back to him. Not as sweet as Sir Loin who loves getting head scratches. I can only get a hand on Ranger when he’s eating grain.

show him who’s boss! My broke calves never gave me any problems, it’s the others that are bad. Maybe he just needs a few walks around the yard.

No, i am waiting on a Holland Lop to have hers. But lost the calendar so idk when she is due.
I like to spray my cages with metal colored spray paint to freshen them up.
I need to build more transport cages.

Big party here to day.. 2 year old party for GS , Henry.

So much to do to get ready. IT was fun but still so hot 96 today, shade was nice but we kept having to walk back and forth to get things from the house. ALL DOgs had to be locked up til everyone leaves and we clean up.

I am tired.

Rain still hasnt slowed down. What a mess. supposed to do this all night and the start of tomorrow I believe.
Wishing, remember the flower vase ? It is on the back porch still and overfilled around 2pm. Its just a steady pouring rain .

h20, tell Henry happy Birthday from Granny.
I was just asking Robert about his Bday on the 20th and according to him he has outgrown ALL holidays. He said its just another day ,Nothing special. I said its supposed to be special. He still wants a gun. I was able to score his clock Pick up monday from wal marts. His worker ordered it and I paid him. $30.00
I asked him a ton of what ifs about a gun and he had an answer for all of them. What if we were out and some stranger grabbed me with intent to harm ? He would shoot him. What if they put you in jail ? They wont because you will be my witness . It was self defense. He said he has been reading up on the laws. What if you get really mad and loose your temper ? He said, He has really good self control and do I remember when I thought he was going to throw a chair but didnt? So he also gives examples to me. I said what if my depression gets really bad and your not here? He said I will have it in a lock box. He sounds responsible and I told him I will reconsider it.

Little devil! If he's acting normal, I bet it's not an infection. To have that much goo, he'd have a fever or pain or something and I think you'd notice.

No, i cut hay in the border along the road near the farmer's field. Just a pair of hand cutters, i get enough for an armload. There is corn growing in the field itself, but along the road just grass and hay, poison ivy and a few weeds. I bought hay bales from this guy before. I need to build a hay loft.

I have serious grass envy, Cap. The chickens get green grass in the spring and that's about it. They have been breaking into my kale patch lately... desperate this time of year. I have some alfalfa left. Going to give them some tomorrow.

Happy birthday to Henry! Both my boys were born in the first half of Sept. Actually it's a VERY popular birth month. Count back 9 1/2 months and Merry Christmas-Happy New Year festivities!

Sorry if I can't drum up much sympathy for your glorious rain. Watch an old Clint Eastwood western, out in the unforgiving dry desert and maybe you won't mind so much. Dying of thirst must be a terrible way to die. (you feeling any better yet? )
