Granny's gone and done it again

Mine is the same. I do a cup of grated bar soap (pink zote is my fav), a cup of borax and a cup of washing soda. Then I just mix it all together. No water, nothing but stirring. I use 1 tablespoon per load.

So your method is for more of a "powder" or dry soap? Hmmmm.......the "liquid" version requires blending with a blender, which I don't currently have, so this method would certainly be easier at the moment.

My only complaint is lack of scent. I was using a splash of fabric softener for scent. DH asked me to buy store detergent, so I went with Tide pods. I'm really enjoying them while I wait for him go say they're too expensive. ;)

I do a version where I cook the ingediants and mix in a huge bucket. I have to stir and cool over night before I pour it in old detergent bottles. I don't have to have a blender for it. If I can find the recipe I will share it too.

I noticed that about the scent too, because I admit I am a bit of a smell addict when it comes to things like soaps, etc. I use scented dryer sheets, and those do help, but have also seen some folks talk about using laundry crystals/unstoppables, etc

I'm way over 50% grey on top, but in the back, there is still color, so my ponytail looks youngish, but it's mostly white hair around my face. When the kids were in grade school, some people thought I was their grandma.

And that was 10 years ago!

Rats are out in a shed and squeeze into the run after dark. If I was not so lazy, I would pick up all the food at night and lock it away, but then I'd worry they'd start coming to the house to look for food. no no! ..... traps.... SNAP!

You have Icelandics?? Excellent idea! I didn't realize they have perfect little crests until last week when we were talking about them here. I think I might have to get a couple when my old biddies die off. The coop is pretty full now. Or, I could raise them with the bantams. My huge Orp still tries to go join the serama flock (where she was raised) but she can't fit through the little pop door any more!
