Granny's gone and done it again

Welcome back! That is a lot of chickens!

Yes, it is a fair few birds, but we sent over 40 hogs to the processor, so my workload is way less than it was. We now have 20 Hogs, 1 sow and 18 growers who we will be selling or sending off to processing in the next year. The 1 boar we are keeping will be penned up and we will be getting a sow of the same breed. Only going to raise hogs for our use. No money in them raising for other people.

Visited Colchester today to pick up the groom’s dress suit and also a bit of shopping. There was a park near the shops, and a castle. The largest Norman castle, built on a Roman temple, just a block from the pub where we had lunch. Friends had a few boring errands, so DH and I had lunch and I went to the castle alone. It was really interesting!

It was fitted as an air-raid shelter in 1939 and they said one of the tour guides remembers shopping as a child and running to the castle when they heard the sirens.

Having a great time, bought exciting things like moisturizer and mascara and that cute little purse. I’ve got a solid grasp on the coins.

Wedding is Saturday and we just love the guy. This was our first time meeting him but he’s basically bffs with DH. There they are walking up to the castle.

Love the castle, but for me to live there I would have to put the drawbridge back and dig the moat to proper size.... I am in a people need to leave me alone mood.

I want our place all fenced...13 acres. We always used to do DIY, but hubby is in no condition to be pounding posts.

Robert is insisting we (European settlers) scalped before the Indians did.
I believe that is what I have heard as well.

She looks like a Cubalaya I had.

Hubs went hiking in the volcano crater (Haleakala is 10,000 ft)
Bout got killed by a tour bus on the Haleakala road 30 years ago. I was heading down the switchbacks, it came around a turn probably 1/2 mile from where I was, in my lane. I was on the outside, nothing but DOWN to my right. He NEVER got back in his lane, I was very lucky there was a wide part of the shoulder that I pulled into as he passed still in my lane. Almost a "new underwear" moment.

Then I returned the rental car and hung out on the beach for a couple of hours until my flight back to Oahu. Sitting second row from the back, prop plane. It starts to take off and we noticed the rear door was ajar. Then it wasn't ... because it had flown open and we were up several hundred feet. So the plane kind of made a square and landed. Other than those two things Maui was very nice.
