Granny's gone and done it again

H20, Im sorry I missed your call. Tom said some lady called but he didnt know who it was and was asking for Robert.
I do have a land line and I tried calling electric co. but it wouldnt go through then Roberts worker came yesterday and told me he had tried all day to call and our phone was out. Seems as there is a little slide switch on the side of the phone that turns the ringer off. Robert found it. I was so worried I couldnt call 911 if I needed to.
So we got about 1/4 in or more of ice . Trees are down everywhere. I lost a couple in the front and they are falling bad in the back. I have some pics. I will do later.
I went in the woods (bad idea) but found a couple downed trees and hurt my back dragging them to the barn then Robert hand sawed them up for us and we finally got some fire.
Roberts worker came and took him to the grocery where they were able to get some of those small bundles of wood . We went through 8 of them. Didnt help much unless you sat right in front of the fire it was 52 degrees there. My bones were so cold I was still and having a hard time even walking.
Robert kept the fire going and even made me a pot of coffee in the fireplace. It was delicious !
Sadly I have lost a few seramas 5 so far. there are a few more not looking good.
The food in my deep freezer has thawed I would never of dreamed it but I lost a few things. My loss Chickens gain right ?
I didnt go to bed. I did get a couple hrs in my chair though .
Im still not thawed out but working on it.
I hope everyone else is well. :hugs
Sorry you lost some birds Granny. Sounds miserable dragging wood to get heat. Glad hubby takes care of that.

OH and here's is a "handy tip" for those of you who wear long underwear, When the elastic goes or starts to go in the waist band, Trash them , really tuff to move quickly when they are knotted/trapped/sagged below your buttocks. :th:th:th
hahahaaa

Sorry your in pain Cap. I bet the quilting isnt helping a thing. Maybe time for a new pillow
I have 2 new pillows. I think i might have a virus. It hits me like that sometimes. I didn't feel like eating supper tonight.

I would just sew in new elastic.

silly question but have you considered a portable generator for when the power goes out. At least one big enough to run a couple electric heaters for your house ??
they are beyond my budget for now. Not a silly question at all. We had 2 oil lamps and some candles and flash lights. A portable radio that we couldnt get a clear signal on and a weather radio
