Granny's gone and done it again

I almost had the barn in TN burn down from a heat lamp, so that is when i started building boxes to keep to goats out of the heat lamps.
My cord to the cookie tin heater melted under the straw in my big coop and I did get a fire in the barn from them but it put itself out. All of these problems were extension cords. where they joined the heat light cords.

If its too high it wont help w heat, No place in a coop they cant reach and better safe then sorry.
Sure it helps with heat. We used a red heat lamp up in the rafters over the horse stall when the mares foaled. Made a big difference.

I can't believe some people just leave animals to give birth outside with no shelter. Then wonder why the babies die!

Think it depends on the animal... cows were on their own and chickens too. They did fine.
