I was thinking she still needs a production layer... sexlink or New Hamp ?

I was thinking along the same lines -- but was thinking I might do a Black Australorp or Leghorn....I know Leghorns have a rep for being flighty, but the last three we had weren't really that bad and you just can't beat them for efficiency when it comes to feed conversion to egg output.

EE or polish Mare ?

Well, I am on a mission to find silver laced polish this year, but not for me -- my sister *really* wants some for her little flock and I want to find some nice ones to put a little sunshine into her days -- the chair she uses for dialysis looks out a big picture window to the yard where the birds like to free range during the day so she could sit and watch them.

We use to have a colony just down the road from town. Not sure if it's still there or not.

Closest thing we have here is a "clothing optional" beach out on the Sauvie's Island ---- have to admit my curiosity is a bit piqued......and being optional means I can go snoop without having to be exposed myself (because no one wants to see that!)

I hope you find some beautiful ones. If mine ever laid a freaking egg I would send it.

Leghorns!! I miss mine dearly. Terrific layers. They're pretty flighty, but their base temperament is sweet enough that frequent handling makes them docile.
