Granny's gone and done it again

I've been considering the logistics of shipping honas. I think I'll do like Walt's Ark and not ship til the chicks are about 3 weeks old. They hatch so small, I think they'll tolerate travel a bit better this way. They'll also be able to regulate their own temps better this way.
Hi camping, won't that be a bigger risk for loss?

I hatched over a 100 chicks last year. I was averaging 80+% males. Worst year so far.
I think my hens gave me 50 chicks last year? Not all made it of course and I sold a lot too. Praying to not repeat that :the I love broodies but yesh my girls are crazy. Got one under the freakin goat house in this weather :he

Wishing, he said I had 2 splash but it would be a long time before I knew if I have black or blue.

h20, Tom could care less. CB told him I was flirting with Twist and Tom told CB he needed to learn how to mind his own business and stay out of mine.
The colors sure looked like one splash, 1 red/blue to me, but I've been wrong before :hide

I have the same trouble with roos granny. Mine usually don't last long haha

my problem is my girls hatch out more roosters then hens :th rehomed over 20 last year.

That's  bus loads going to freezer camp.

Wishing, I know where there are 5 more just like him. The eldest was making popcorn in the micro at 2 yrs.
Proves the saying, necessity is the mother of invention. Or in this case, lack of mothering necessitates invention. Or hunger does.

I don't think so. Walt ships with strawberries; Sally uses oranges. Helps them stay hydrated. They'll be less fragile I think. And I would never ship a puny chick, but it's easier to know how hearty they are when they're older.

I don't have enough to ship 25+ chicks at a time. I'd be lucky to get 10 honas that hatched to a sellable standard. Since there are fewer, I think being older will help.

I'm still spitballing ideas. I guess we'll see how twist's EEs do. Btw, they're still laying with the cold. So hope their babies like nd. :D
