Granny's gone and done it again

And wear a long sleeved shirt and jacket when doing this maybe even gloves then maybe you won't do yourself a mischief and end up bleeding WHICH is now considered a biohazard waste material

bringing in the house I can get some help. I cut that mess I usually get myself too.

Now we just gotta get the yard fenced.

We have a neighbor that walks his pack of...I don't even know what they are fox hounds with chihuahua on some of them...he's got a pack of 12 or so that he walks and yeah. They come on our land. "Oh but they don't go past the wellhouse" (bs)

This is why our girls are in that cage.

Oh, yeah, fencing is definitely in order. I cannot stand people with attitudes like that about their animals -- I don't care how far you *think* they go, they don't belong loose on your property AT ALL, PERIOD!

I've been considering the logistics of shipping honas. I think I'll do like Walt's Ark and not ship til the chicks are about 3 weeks old. They hatch so small, I think they'll tolerate travel a bit better this way. They'll also be able to regulate their own temps better this way.

Such great consideration - I think waiting a bit is a great idea with breeds like that that hatch a bit smaller/more fragile. I know when we had our chicks shipped to us last spring the little speckled sussex did not fare well at all. They were about 1/3 smaller than all the rest of the chicks and were just over all more "puny" and we lost so many of them - when I had reached out to the hatchery they did say that the SS tended to be smaller and more fragile than other day olds -- they refunded me the $$$ but that didn't change the fact that I the flock I had planned for that year went out the window. Granny ended up up with my one surviving SS out of 8!

I hatched over a 100 chicks last year. I was averaging 80+% males. Worst year so far.

YIKES!
Mornin all.I finally caught whats been going around, been laying for 2 days,i'm too darn old to be sick...

Happy news that you are feeling better!

Got my electric bill for the farm for Dec $425. and change. Something IS NOT RIGHT !!! I am about to go out there and do a surprise house and building check. With a wire cutter to remove plugs.

Yowza! I was just thinking how nice the difference in electric costs are here compared to the old place -- got my bill today and it was a whopping $51.....granted we have gas heat, but after average winter bills of $300+/month I'll take this all day long!
