does anyone know if heritage birds are more prone to broody? I think I dont really understand heritage. IE My jub. orphs..
Yes, in my experience, they are much more broody than hatchery birds.
I think heritage means that the breeder is selecting and breeding to the standard with an emphasis on historically older American breeds that were common and useful, hardy and healthy.

I really enjoy the heritage birds I have much more then hatchery stock. Thanks for the info.

And that’s why I buy from sandhill preservation. They are trying to preserve the heritage breeds. Hatchery stock is just that bred to produce lots of eggs or meat but not live long. Heritage tries to preserve to original traits. Ie not mean to people, they get along , they are good mothers, ect
