Granny's gone and done it again

they have a special way of breeding them. 2 containers or a divider with one on each side. They can tell when the female is ripe and they remove the divider they will mate right away and if not separated will then fight. 2 males together would end in death for one . They will mistake big finned fish for their own kind and fight them as well..

guess you quote to see that pic. LOL

Very interesting, thank you granny. After mating would they fight in the wild? Or is just because they are confined in a tank?

I dont know if they are even in the wild or not. Not sure where they are from.

I put my old one in a ten gallon tank with lots of other fish. He was nice. The newer one I have is 3ish and he's not so nice. But Mr Blue was in with mollies, guppies and some other fish I can't remember the name of but it had stripes. He never beat up on them.

Just had a quick look and it seems they do live in the wild in the Mekong basin of Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand. Some have been found in Australia too but are an invasive fish there as they pose a threat to Australian fish and frogs etc

They sure a pretty and I can see why you want one granny!
