So many people have tagged me in that. And my response is always the meme of “why did the chicken cross the road? I’m a free range chicken (female dog)! I do what I want!”

Chicklets are doing well. Nice spread on them, but I still turned up the heat lamp a bit for overnight. (Hubs has this magic thing that works like a dimmer. I can change how much juice goes to the heat lamp. I had it at 80, turned it up to 90%. Tomorrow it’ll get turned down again during the day.) they have plenty of room to get away from it if needed.

At what point do you intervene with the birth? Is she still getting contractions?

Camping, full moon is the second. Thats when Gertrude will deliver.

No Granny, I think the new moon is on the 2nd. The full moon will be 14 days later. Maybe she will hold out that long.

I called it a night a little after 1am. Mom was wore out but looked like she was having light contractions. I just woke up to check on her but theres not another baby. Mom seems rested and happy. So idk I know what I felt was not poo. It was rounded and hard like a ball.

They’re chick piling. Do have a heat lamp (not on full blast though it’s already kinda toasty in this garage) but they’re piling on the opposite end of the brooder from it.

I think that mean's they are to hot. IF they are piling up away from the heat lamp

Still no rain here and the ground is still saturated from all that rain last week. It was awful. skeeters everywhere.

tall grass doesn't help the skeeter problem.
