I think I found it. Northern parula warbler.

White wing bars and the greenish spot on the back match. Was it small enough to be a warbler? Yellow on chin and chest?

No yellow on chin and chest, but I think they are young.

Montana was very pretty. People there were exceptionally nice... not like CA. I especially liked the wheat fields. Such a pretty color! We saw some sandhill cranes, never seen those in person before.

So far #2 is really liking Montana State. He got very lucky with his roommate... they are similar, both low key, and the roommate's family lives only 10 minutes from the school. The family have all but adopted my #2! It has put my mind at ease knowing he has good people who will watch over him... just in case. So far so good!
