Granny's gone and done it again

In from the broody suite. Pitch lost a chick, yellow with black spots. It was acting puny earlier. I’m assuming it’s the heat. Jet has 4 live babies and 5 dead ones. One was hatched, one was still in the membrane but no shell on it. The rest were pipped but dead. I’m guessing they smothered. I gave all the chicks and pipped eggs to Pitch in the broody suite. Jet is on the rest of the eggs. This way Pitch can also get to feed and water, maybe help with her pale comb.

Dont I know it. Seems odd she would take the shell off though. Maybe she was trying to help. I have never actually seen a mama try to help but hear they do.

I think they step on it and roll it around on accident, and shell just flakes off.

Hotter than haides on our way home. For course my husband has to take the hottest way. But over 100 where we live so, guessit doesn’t matter

I sure wouldnt mind tasting some of that minus the heat. My belly dont like heat. I wonder if I could trap some of these land crawdads we have here ? Some of them get pretty big. Do they taste like shrimp or lobster ?

Crawdads taste like mud to me.
