But we aren't into chick season yet. I have two orders placed for chicks and eggs plus what I hatch here. Golfing went broody last year. She was a good mom.

is that bright shiny orange what you call brassy ?  thats the saddle. thats all I remember too except its butt is very fluffy . Like my hens when they are about to lay.  
I think for those SH you have plenty room and then some. Dont you let them free range too ? They can use even less if you do.

Not every day, since that hawk came around. And I wouldn't be able to let out multiple pens at once.

I have my tolbunt roo and hen in a cage that is 3x6 ft 3ft high so they have a shelf/roost up there. That is bigger then I see a lot of people use for breeding pens. Not that I like it but there it is.

I got these on Black Friday. Half off my total order.

Then I ordered an assortment of polish chicks from sandhill in Ohio. I had to tell them what I would substitute. They have a weird ordering procedure, very old school. You mail your order in with what you want. You may get them you may not. You don't even know when you will get them. They call you the night they send them.

Oh my only egg that hatched and I am already convinced is a rooster has the start of a top. dr.suess is all black.
