What about Benadryl?

as a antihistamine? Could make him more drowsy if he can absorb it. But if he's not metabolizing quickly enough I don't think itd do much good. Could take days or longer.

I think something IV would be best.

I must be dense. I dont understand

Some meds can cause seizures, internal bleeding etc. Ends up causing more pain and stress for the animal.

yep, BUT usually its just chills and maybe an achy body. Occasionally runny nose.
