Granny's gone and done it again

They play a lot of animal crossing. They have to complete tasks and earn money for items, and to pay their mortgage. They read their own dialogue boxes. Sometimes I have them read out loud to me. DH has them total up the value of his things, or determine how much he has left to pay. That’s the most schooling we’ve done. They spend a lot of time outside on their bikes, which I truly think is the best thing they could be doing right now. This time of year is mostly review for testing, and then testing.

The kids set their own timers for animal crossing, so it’s not all day long. DD also reads a lot. I need to pick up a math book for bubba. He asks for them sometimes. When I shopped Friday I didn’t realize we were out of laundry detergent. I’ll have to quickly go out in the morning.
So the school is not providing any instruction?
There are lots of online resources. I remember finding math games when the boys were young. You get a problem correct and a rocket would blast off or something. It was for rote memorization. Kahn Academy is free. Lots of good stuff there. Being outside is good, though. Maybe have nature hunts, look up info about things they find...
Just try to have fun with it.

Wishing I actually thought about you the other day when I read a meme to DH about corpses on Mt Everest. The kids both said “WAIT... WHAT?!” And bubba was obsessed with the bodies on Everest for about a week afterward.
That's the perfect jumping off point for learning. Look up Everest and see some pictures. Why can't you breathe up there? Why no trees? Where on the globe? They will remember because they were interested in the bodies! Nothing like a little morbid curiosity...

The storms just passed through here in Georgia too. All is well though I did hear there was some damage in surrounding areas, it sounds like everyone is ok.

I'm pretty worn out because we had chicks hatching into all hours of the night, lol. But they're so cute! The last baby is about as tired as I am. lol
