So the school is not providing any instruction? They play a lot of animal crossing. They have to complete tasks and earn money for items, and to pay their mortgage. They read their own dialogue boxes. Sometimes I have them read out loud to me. DH has them total up the value of his things, or determine how much he has left to pay. That’s the most schooling we’ve done. They spend a lot of time outside on their bikes, which I truly think is the best thing they could be doing right now. This time of year is mostly review for testing, and then testing.
The kids set their own timers for animal crossing, so it’s not all day long. DD also reads a lot. I need to pick up a math book for bubba. He asks for them sometimes. When I shopped Friday I didn’t realize we were out of laundry detergent. I’ll have to quickly go out in the morning.
That's the perfect jumping off point for learning. Look up Everest and see some pictures. Why can't you breathe up there? Why no trees? Where on the globe? They will remember because they were interested in the bodies! Nothing like a little morbid curiosity...Wishing I actually thought about you the other day when I read a meme to DH about corpses on Mt Everest. The kids both said “WAIT... WHAT?!” And bubba was obsessed with the bodies on Everest for about a week afterward.
