Granny's gone and done it again

Had a little helper while digging a hole today. Every time I shoveled out some dirt, the lizard would race into the hole and grab a snack. Very bold little critter and a survivor of what I think was a chicken attack. Missing tail!

And then there were 10...
I lost one of my older hens yesterday. :( 8 yr old Welsummer. She laid an egg 2 days before, seemed to be doing fine, but night before last, she didn't come for bedtime treats. Found her laying on the ground, and the fact that she let walk right up and pick her up was very concerning. Nothing visibly wrong at all, and a good weight, I carried her to the coop and she got herself on the top roost. Food in her crop, so she had eaten. Next morning she was still on the roost, all droopy, empty crop, and not breathing well, so I put her in a dog crate. She was gone 20 minutes later.
No lingering death, so lucky her. No good pictures, because she was terrified of cameras, but she was a nice looking girl and had some substantial spurs. Very chatty hen.
It was pretty quiet today.
