Granny's gone and done it again

I think that chair of his swallowed him up, granny. He's been vewy vewy quiet. Think he's hunting wabbits?

-- happens to DH all the time, you know the "boy eating bush" on Charlie Brown....well, apparently we have a man eating couch!

want me to send them your way ? LOL All she had to do was get her license . I offered to take her, offered to help her study. Now all their plans are put on hold and she will probably have to change the boys school .

The test is a trick test - that is the trick to passing it --- you have to really read the questions. Tell her to go early on a slow day (Tuesday and Thursday mornings were slow in the Madison branch) and ask for the headphones -- not only does the computer read the question to you, but it helps block out the noise around you (people can be so rude about not shutting the heck up for people who are obviously trying to take a test - the room is big and sound carries way too easy). She also has the option to ask for a printed (paper) test vs. the electronic test and, if she needs, she can have a staff person read the test to her (different branches are more strict about the rules on that one, but at Madison if we had the staff we'd do it if you asked vs. making you fail it x times first). Different things work for different people. Key things to memorize are sign shapes and distance questions -- stop and draw things out if need be (ie the who can turn at what time sort of questions). Most of the distance related questions the furthest distance is the right answer. The online "practice tests" are essentially the same questions you'll see on the real test - just take all the practice tests and chances are you'll have had all the questions that will end up on the version you get (on the real test it randomly selects test questions from the big pool every time it generates a test for you and will mix it up based on your previous test history). The good news is, you can take it as many times as need be and there is no charge (here in OR it's $5 every time you take the darn test -- talk about incentive to pass sooner rather than later, lol). If she does a paper test and doesn't pass have her ask them to go over the ones she missed with her -- again, in Madison branch this is no problem, not sure about other branches.

Trick to backing up is to turn your shoulders and head to the back, so you can look out the rear window, one hand on the wheel. Then turning the wheel is automatic. The few times i tried to back up with a trailer was very sad.

Oy - backing a trailer, STILL can't do that --- have tried, and tried -- practiced and practiced and STILL not gonna happen. I just always made sure to get places early and find a spot I could pull through when I had to haul DD/her horse anywhere.

Granny, is CB going to school tomorrow?

Hi Mare! Those are adorable kitty pics! Ming won't let Henry snuggle. He tries and she gets mad at him. I think it's because he bear hugs and body slams her too much... she's just too tiny, and no fangs to give him warning nips. He's not mean, but her message doesn't get through and she has to get really POed to make him stop. I wish i had a pic of them cuddling.

Sheldon isn't such a fan of the snuggling -- its more a defense mechanism at this point. Ranger is an absolute little jerk and delights in waiting for Sheldon to get all comfy in one of the baskets (or anywhere else) and then leaping on him to bite and wrestle (he's really feeling the man berries lately). Sheldon alternates between just getting up and leaving or, if he's lucky, wrestling Ranger into a good enough hold that he can commence bathing and bathe the little jerk into submission so that he gives up and goes to sleep.

My male barn cat is sleeping in the nesting box and eating layer pellets.
Awwwww, too cute. We had one that was convinced DH built the nest boxes for him -- started while they were on the back porch being built and continued once they were installed in the coop, he was even happier then as they had comfy beds of hay in them.

Say wishing how is the petition going for Cali to leave the UNION ??? Might be the only way for the rest of us to get rid of Pelosie as she refuses to die or retire and can't seem to be voted out

Ha! Maybe he will quit with the back talk now. You can tell him it is legal for medical use in a lot of states and I'm sure IN will catch up one day. I didn't ask MIL if she tried her extract. She was gesturing to this box of pills and supplements and says she not taking most if it. Doesn't do any good. That's when she said she wasn't doing the chemo either... after only one time. Said if it's not going to help, it's not worth it. We have much less time than we thought if she doesn't change her mind.

Triangle means warning.

I do understand her thought process, there comes a point where you are just prolonging things and the treatments can take the quality of that time away which makes increasing the quantity an exercise in torture. It's a horrible time for all involved -- I hope that you are all able to make the most of the time she has, however long it is.

Mare, when we first moved here DH took the oral test in Madison. 3 times. He didnt understand the accent and couldnt hear well in there. He never got his and at the time was a good driver. I hated that because he was better then me and I was forced to do it all. Now he cant drive but he still had a few good years in him.

Thank you for the tips. I will pass them along .

Thanks Mare. We are still a little stunned. It's happening very fast. Aggressive cancer... pancreatic.

That's too bad. They should have done a driving test with him. Guess if it's not in the rules, they can't do it. No room for common sense in a bureaucracy.

I hate that you are hurting. I think it is THE fastest spreading one. Know that this is her choice , her decisions to not treat . You did and are doing what you can.

Thanks Pam.

Reliving a lot of emotions too. We support her, of course, whatever choice she makes. Just don't want to see her suffer, and this is a painful cancer. You just never know.

no you dont and Im sure it brings painful memories of your own mother.
She will be on the morphine before long and hospice. She wont be in pain unless she wants to. And some people do. They want to feel that but I promise you when it gets bad she will take the meds. Only she knows what she can handle.
