Ignore the curtains back there. I washed them and the backing got sticky and pulled off. :hmm They were ancient anyway. Can't decide whether to get new curtains again or some slats or  maybe just tape up newspaper! Can't look much worse!
You can see where Henry has shredded his scratching post. 🐈

I spy with my little eye... Flip!

Can you find her?
Not really sure of Flip's sex. Male and female Mourning Cloaks are almost identical. Behavior is about the only way to tell. Maybe a male because he's kind of bold and likes to drink from his spoon. (That's a subtle I Spy hint. 🧐)

Oh what could have been!

Kind of puts another spin on my byc name! 🧚‍♀️🦋🕊🐥🐦🛩

I had curtains do that at camp, and they were not old. I was furious.

Hi Wishing, How is Flip doing and what are you feeding him?
He's doing fine. I catch him staring longingly out the window... He flaps and vibrates his wings, walks around a lot. Can a butterfly get bored?
Research says they eat sap from oak trees. We have loads of those, but not sure how they go about getting sap. They occasionally eat over-ripe fruit... apples or pears. I have an extremely ripe pear, scrape off a little pear goo with a spoon and drip some water on it. I see him slurping on it. That's another male trait... they will drink from puddles.

And the odd thing was I had washed them once before, long time ago when we moved in here, and they came out fine. :idunno Maybe they get to a certain age and that's it. I was happy they did not sticky themselves all over my washing machine. :hmm

Butterflys land on me all the time. Mom said it was salt. They were drinking my sweat. Gross hu? I didnt know/would of never in a million years of thought that.
Your mom knew a lot of cool things.
They will congregate on natural salt licks.
