Granny's gone and done it again

We reinacted the killing fields here this weekend. Feeling a little sad. We had 4 old layers. My original chickens. They had quit laying but we had put all the cockerels in withem. I don't think they liked that one bit. They never started laying again. I thought they were too old, I guess they were just on strike because my husband found eggs developing. I feel bad.

Funny story. We had been missing one old hen for three days. Couldnt find hide nor hair of her. My husband searched and searched. Well he was processing the three old hens yesterday. I went out to feed scratch to that Randy group of cockerels. The cockerels were making that sound they make to call the hens. Out pops a head from the hay bales. She had been hiding in there for three days. I gave her a stay of execution. Her name is now lucky. We will see how she integrates into the gen pop. My stupid buff lace polish was acting like she is a cockerel.. she is a black sex link and I had a young cockerel the same color as her. He was going on and on. Gesturing puffing his chest. Flaring his feathers. I think he finally figured out it's a she. Hopefully she won't get picked on when I let her out of her box.

Yeah, guess I am just sad about some chickens.

Sorry about the hens. Chicken math includes subtraction sometimes.

Would you prefer being called JULIE or h2oratt?

the cockerels will need to go wont they ? Unfortunately thats just the way it is. They had a good life not cooped up in a factory. You are doing your part buy raising them fresh and giving them a good life. I am proud of you for that. The more we do the less chance they have of being abused . You did good.

I wonder if this is spam. It's happened before and Sunday seems to be a favorite attack day. If you see something like that, it should be flagged so the mods can block the spammer.

Quote: No, it didn't say anything. I was using google images, but the page had no info.

You can call me either. I answer to both. I know it's the only way. They are not our pets but it's still sad. They had a great life until I put those Randy cockerels back there.
I hate introducing new ones to the flock. Chickens can be such bullies!

I think I shall call you Julie ..... I know you raise the water spaniels but I always feel like I'm calling you a rat! I'm glad you're feeling healthier.
