Maybe the groomer used a hot blade. Was he matted?

Groomer didnt do this. This was the reason I took him to the groomers. He was clawing himself before he went. I just wanted to see it better. She said it was an allergic reaction

Hot as Hades today. Did not cool down much last night, so we started out with a warm house. Smoke wasn't too bad. The chickens are doing fine. They spend the hottest part of the day in the wet sand pit and that seems to do the trick. My 8yr old EE even laid an egg! The only one.
High was 108. ugh. 50 yrs my family has been living here and can't remember a summer like this.
Very high winds are expected tonight in the hills and the power will be cut as a fire precaution. How horrible for those people. Thank goodness we will not be affected. I would really miss my fan!

Today I've been on a good walk with my dog and his best friend. Managed at last to bake a spelt loaf of bread and now about to clean out the chickens and give then their evening meal. all go here

Where do you get your spelt? Whole grain or flour?
Just this afternoon I was explaining about the dark side of modern wheat to my dad. Got to find some alternatives.

I am going to put in more hours per day. Need to make some housing for my polish grow outs.

Days are getting shorter for more hours!

Then I have the whole afternoons off!

Just in time to get home and plan and prepare dinner? I'm glad you got this job. I think you will feel good focusing on work and yourself for part of the day. Not exactly "me" time, but you know what I mean.

Learned how to make an electrolyte drink for these hot days. No sugar, just salt, baking soda mag sulfate and potassium chloride.

My dad was drinking his version of that today... his also includes a little stevia, lemon juice, and a bit of AVC... which I lamely forgot to bring him. I did remember the tomatoes, beans, squash and strawberries!

It wasn't that bad today, only 80s instead of 90s.

I never thought I'd be HAPPY to expect temps in the 90s tomorrow. 94... 14 degrees cooler than today.

109 here, and the air quality is bad. The air is dead. It is awful.

I was thinking about you today. We had a bit of smoke in the morning, but it hasn't been too bad smoke wise.
Do you mist your chickens?

Bandit drama day here. I feel so bad for him. I think the extra benadryl was too much. He acted stoned half the day today. He hid out in the cat bed most of the day not even coming out for treats. One time he came out to jump in my lap and he feels hot to me. He has clawed himself bloody and refuses to get out of a chair he knows he isnt allowed in. We just gave him another benadryl. The first one today and he seems to be sleeping through it for now.

Poor PITA. He sure isn't feeling good.how long is that flea stuff supposed to stay in his system?

Forgot it was garbage day and cat litter. Just finished my part of it which was just scraping the old litter into the can.

I did the cat box this morning before the sun came up. Smartest thing I did all day!

Flea meds are supposed to last a month on the dogs so I would imagine it to be that long in his system

I'm hoping it hurries up! Still 93 inside right now. I would be soaking in sweat if it wasn't for my dear friend, the fan.

No but kinda looks like that. Maybe a bit worse. Its from him clawing himself. Its a lot of places. Head, muzzle, legs, chest ,belly.

I suppose he would chew them off if you tried to put socks on his back feet.

Got any witch hazel? That might be soothing.
No swelling in his lips or tongue? It's a strange allergic reaction without any swelling.
